Touring About in BC’s Thompson Okanagan Proves an Adventure

Itching to take it outside?  Eager for an outdoor excursion fuelled entirely under your own steam?  Monashee Adventure Tours supplies the Thompson Okanagan track - not to mention the tread.  To start, take to the trails and revel in the last vestiges of fall (and we mean the riot of colour on display) with one of Monashee’s pedal pumping or hiking boot-worthy expeditions.  Treks through the historic Kettle Valley Railway (KVR) promise sick singletrack tours, tutelage through the terrain and munchies to keep the fires burning.  (If you prefer to make your way by foot, interpretive guides will show you the way.)  For a change of pace, sedate sojourns can be savoured with treks linking nearby wineries, or amongst Kelowna’s historic sites and scenic lakes.  Come November, bikes take a backseat when it’s time to buckle the snowshoes and cruise the crunchy corridors at Myra Canyon, strap on the skis and head cross country or settle in for some swooshing down nearby slopes.  New this season, Monashee will offer snow biking, a downhill excursion complete with bikes specially modified with a front ski, along the KVR and at Big White Mountain Resort (where accessible).  And for a bit of local flavour, who better to lead the charge than Monashee’s owner and operator (and historic buff), “Trailhead” Ed Kruger.  With over 14 years on the move, Monashee specializes in year-round single and multi-day excursions meant to have you bike, hike, board, ski and snowshoe either on your own or with a like-minded crowd.  Either way, you’ll see the sights – and get there all on your own.  www.monasheeadventuretours.com
