If you do opt for an overnight between planes there are two great options at the major Paris airports.
CDG-Marriott Paris Charles De Gaulle, “Your Chateau at the Airport”
The Marriott Paris Charles De Gaulle is located in the charming village of Roissy, just a short free airport shuttle bus ride from the terminals at CDG. The town centre and a park are just a short walk from the hotel. Both provide a nice little respite from the bustling airport and hotel traffic. The hotel itself is an efficient Marriott with comfortable affordable rooms and standard business amenities.
The real gem at this property is the restaurant, Brassiere Belle Époque. Hotel management has invested money and expertise to create a truly fine restaurant offering classical and appealing variations on traditional French cuisine. It has become the most popular area restaurant with the local business community offering fine dining for business lunches and dinners. Maybe it’s because the French take their food so seriously, but dining at this decidedly French version of an airport Marriott was anything but typical!
Course after course was better than the last and service was excellent. The waiter deboned my fresh filet of sole tableside and presented it with a professional flare. The Onion soup and escargot were perfect and the desserts were delicious. Dining at this hotel was truly an unexpected surprise and well worth considering an overnight at CDG. They were also able to arrange a reasonably priced car service for transfer between airports and/or to the centre of Paris. I like this place! ORY-Hilton Paris Orly
Thanks to a recent renovation, this airport property looks great in spite of its years. Built during the sixty’s, when Paris Orly was the centre of French commercial aviation, the Orly Airport Hilton was always considered a glamorous jet set airport hotel. Now geared primarily to business people with early flights, it is a great location, especially if you are on one of OpenSkies early morning flights to New York/EWR.
We decided to have dinner at the hotel. Much to our pleasant surprise, the hotel restaurant, Le Café du Marche, boasts one of the most spectacular French style buffet dinners anywhere in the world! The choices seemed endless and everything was prepared and presented beautifully…it must have to do with the French and their serious relationship with food. Again, this was no ordinary airport chain hotel meal. The breads, starters and entrees were varied and delicious. The desserts were shear artistry! The buffet choices seemed endless…we certainly over ate…it was all just too enticing. This is the perfect place to catch that early morning flight and still have a restful night after yet one more memorable French meal! I really like this restaurant!
